Chairman of RA Investigative Committee Hayk Grigoryan paid a working visit to Tavush province to get acquainted with the work done by the regional investigative department in 2018.

IC Chairman congratulated Hovik Khachatryan on the appointment in the position of the head of Tavush Regional Investigative Department and expressed confidence that he could provide excellent results by his work becoming a person enjoying the trust of province residents.

Considering that the Head of Tavush Regional Investigative Department was newly appointed, at IC Chairman’s request the report on the work done by the department in the previous year was made by deputy head of the regional investigative department Artur Movsisyan.

In the observed period 557 criminal cases were initiated in Tavush Regional Investigative Department and its divisions as compared with 388 criminal cases initiated in 2017.

48 criminal cases were initiated on abuses committed by the heads of local self-government bodies, 11 criminal cases – on abuses committed by the employees of educational institutions and 18 ones – on abuses committed by the forestry employees.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee drew department employees' attention to cases of illegal tree felling emphasizing that in order to exclude such cases all necessary steps should be taken. By the instruction of IC Chairman a number of measures will be taken not to allow illegal tree felling as well as to check the legality of transporting timber.

«War should be declared against those committing illegal tree-felling. It is a serious problem in the province and requires immediate solution. In this case the regional investigative department must be a leader and take all the steps to exclude such cases», said Hayk Grigoryan.

IC Chairman gave a number of instructions to organize the investigation of several criminal cases in a more efficient way.

Hayk Grigoryan gave a positive assessment to the activity of Tavush Regional Investigative Department and appealed to improve the work, as well as to present those investigators who have positive indices during the service for encouragement.
