Two People Arrested within Criminal Case on Illegal Tree-Felling in Sections of Haghartsin Area of “Dilijan National Park” SNCO

In the framework of the criminal case investigated in Dilijan Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on illegal tree-felling committed in sections 9 and 11 of Haghartsin area of “Dilijan National Park” SNCO two residents of Tavush region were arrested.

Pursuant to initial data, on August 13, 2018 in the sections 9 and 11 of Haghartsin area of “Dilijan National Park” SNCO which is a special protected area of nature – on the right and left sides of the road to the lake Parz the people having committed the alleged crime illegally cut down 21 trees of several types and sizes. Then they put the wood on the road and stopped the traffic.

A criminal case was initiated according to the Part 3 of the Article 296 of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which is conducted in Dilijan Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

According to data obtained through investigation two residents of Tavush reaching prior agreement with two more residents of the same region apparently cut down 21 trees in the sections 9 and 11 of Haghartsin area of “Dilijan National Park” SNCO causing the state a damage of particularly large amount - 2.567.500 AMD.

On August 14, 2018 the two residents of Tavush region were arrested and signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against the other two.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory and other procedural actions are conducted to find out the frame of those possibly involved in illegal tree-felling, to provide the comprehensive investigation of circumstances of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
