A criminal case was initiated in Kentron Investigative Division of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on hindrance to the legal professional activities of the journalist.

On 3 October, 2014 the journalist of “The Armenian Times” Taguhi Hovhannisyan reported to the Central Police station on the fact that on 19 September, 2014 while covering the works of “Armenia-Diaspora” conference in the building of Yerevan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater after Alexander Spendiaryan, the head of “Nairi” association of the Armenian community of Kazakhstan Artyusha Karapetyan hindered her journalistic activities.

Particularly, according to the journalist, after a question had been directed to A. Karapetyan, the latter hindered the journalist’s legal professional activities through seizing her recorder, as well as removing the video of the mentioned action from her mobile phone.

Taking into consideration that in the materials prepared on the base of T. Hovhannisyan’s report bases for initiation of a criminal case are available, a criminal case was initiated in Kentron Investigative Division according to the Part 1 of the Article 164 of RA Criminal Code.

A preliminary investigation is being implemented.
