In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions of great volume conducted in the Division of Investigation of Traffic Crimes of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of the accident on Isakov Avenue that caused four people’s death, as well as the person really guilty of the accident were found out.
Pursuant to actual data obtained through investigation, on December 26, 2018 at about 23:30 the person having committed the alleged crime took part in a party in one of the restaurants operating in Yerevan and being under the influence of alcohol, taking advantage of the circumstance that the engine of the car of “Lexus” make of one of the participants of the party was on and was out of control, without knowledge and permission of the owner of the car, got into the mentioned car parked in front of the restaurant with another participant of the party unknown to him sitting on the seat next to the driver and drove the car on Isakov Avenue at a speed of 105 km/h exceeding the permissible speed during which he lost the control over the car, crashed the dividing concrete barrier in the middle of the avenue then drove on the opposite path of the avenue and crashed the car of “Mercedes-Benz” make driving on the opposite path which negligently caused four people’s death – the passenger of the same car, the driver of the car of “Mercedes Benz” make involved in the crash and its two passengers.
During preliminary investigation the mentioned person, for the purpose of avoiding criminal liability, reported about false crime - he told the investigative body that during the accident the car had been allegedly driven by the person unknown to him who died because of the crash.
On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against him according to the Part 1 of the Article 183 (gaining illegal control of a car or other means of transportation without the intention of theft), the Part 3 of the Article 242 (breach of traffic rules and operation of means of transportation) and the Part 1 of the Article 333 (false crime reporting) of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.
Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
