Through comprehensive investigation conducted in the Division of Investigation of Grave Crimes of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee all circumstances of hooliganism committed by the participants of the rally organized by the political opposition at the crossroad of Moldovan and Totovents Streets of Yerevan were found out.
Pursuant to factual data obtained through investigation, on May 17, 2022 at about 10:00 at the crossroad of Moldovan and Totovents Streets of Yerevan during the mentioned rally a group of people ignoring the police officers’ legal requirements to show proper behavior and not to breach the public order, breached the public order, scolded and insulted the passersby using violence against them, obstructed and banned the movement of the cars driving through the traffic lane hitting the car of “Mazda” make with hands and feet. Then one of the above-mentioned people used violence against a young man who had intervened in the accident hitting him on the face with a container filled with liquid and causing bodily injuries.
On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the mentioned citizen according to the Part 4 of the Article 258 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against him.
The part on the mentioned citizen was separated in a separate proceeding and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
