On 27 October, 2014, at 18:25 a call was received from the 7th substation of the ambulance service informing that the 71t brigade of the ambulance left for the apartment 9, house 13, Andranik Street, Yerevan. It was found that Melanya Poghosyan had been killed in the mentioned apartment.
On the same day a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee pursuant to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.
During preliminary investigation it was found that on the day of murder during an argument on domestic affairs M. Poghosyan's husband A. Mnatsakanyan stabbed numerous times with a jackknife at several parts of M. Poghosyan's body willfully depriving her of life.
On October 27 Azat Mnatsakanyan was arrested on suspicion of committing the apparent crime.
Preliminary investigation is under way.
