On 3 September, 2020 at about 19:00 while carrying out service duties near the park of Armavir town the officers of State Protection Service of the RA Police noticed the driver and passengers of the car of “Opel” make drinking beer. Seeing the police officers the latters showed obvious disrespect – they willfully violated public order, scolded. Approaching the young men the police officers asked them to show their identification documents. However, being under the influence of alcohol they went on scolding and did not obey the legal demands of the police officers. In the meantime 27 year-old young man in the mentioned car seized the mobile phone of one of the police officers and broke it. The police officers tried to apprehend them but they started to drag them during which 24 year-old young man hit one of the police officers for a few times causing physical pain. 35 year-old man getting into the police officers’ car of “VAZ 2106”, drove to the beginning of Shahumyan street then noticing the police car pursuing him drove back to the same place. The driver and the passengers of the car of “Opel” make were apprehended to Armavir Police Division where they went on scolding and dragging the police officers.

A criminal case was initiated in Armavir Police Division according to the Part 1 of the Article 316 (violence against a representative of authorities) and the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 258 (hooliganism) of RA Criminal Code which was sent to Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

On 3 September, 2020 three residents of Armavir town, born in 1996, 1993 and 1984 were arrested on suspicion of using violence against police officers and committing hooliganism. Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against two young men, born in 1992.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
