Reports concerning the illegal use of water by more than 86 fish farms were received in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee in connection with which four criminal proceedings were initiated. 

In the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings factual data were obtained on the allegation that the fish farms had used groundwater resources without obtaining water-use permits and also degraded agricultural land by using it for the production of agricultural products.

In the course of the preliminary investigation damage in the amount of 18 million 500 thousand AMD caused to the state was recovered by the fish farms.
