In the framework of the criminal case investigated in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee V. Antonyan, who had been under persecution on charge of murder attempt against two or more persons in a way dangerous for life, was found and detained.

On October 11, 2015 a call was received informing that at the bridge of Akhtala town shots had been fired towards the car in motion which belonged to the resident of Alaverdi town, V. Abgaryan. 

A criminal case was initiated in Lori Regional Investigative Department according to the Point 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code and necessary investigatory actions were conducted to find all the circumstances of the case, to identify the person having committed the apparent crime, the relevant subdivisions of the police were tasked to take operative-intelligence measures.

In the result of investigatory and procedural actions it was found that on October 11, 2015 at about 20:10 the resident of Lori region, Antonyan while driving in his acquaintance’s car together with the latter in Tumanyan street of Alaverdi town saw the cars “Hummer” which belonged to the resident of the same region V. Abgaryan and “Nissan Teana 280 JK” which belonged to the latter’s friend A. Mnatsakanyan.

According to preliminary investigation data, Antonyan pursued them then reaching the 16^th km of Alaverdi-Tbilisi road – on the bridge of Akhtala with the purpose of killing, in a way dangerous for many people’s life fired numerous shots from the rifle he had taken with him towards the mentioned two cars in motion. However, he could not accomplish the crime under unforeseen circumstances; “Hummer” was shellproof and “Nissan Teana 280 JK” hid behind “Hummer”.

In October, 2015 a decision was made to involve Antonyan as a defendant according to the Points 1, 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code.

On the same day detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him and search was declared.

In the result of operative-intelligence measures taken in the framework of the criminal case, on January 14, 2016 the defendant V. Antonyan was found in Isakov Avenue of Yerevan, was apprehended and on the same day was taken to Lori.

Today – on January 15 the investigator pressed charge against him according to the Points 1, 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 of RA Criminal Code (murder attempt against two or more persons in a way dangerous for many people’s life) and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code (illegal procurement, keeping, carrying of firearm, weapon). V. Antonyan refused to give evidence.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case, to find the motive.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
