On January 11, 2023 a report was received from Vardenis Police Division informing that on the same day at about 20:20 an unknown person threw an explosive device at the gate of the entrance of the specially protected area of the mentioned police station. As a result of the explosion glasses of the administrative building of the police division were broken, the roof and wall of the bathroom of the specially protected area were, as well as the gate were spoilt.

A criminal proceeding was initiated in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 264 and the Part 1 of the Article 335 of RA Criminal Code.

During preliminary investigation the scene was inspected with participation of the expert and the damages were recorded.

In the result of taken measures a number of circumstances of the case were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is 58 year-old resident of the same town. The latter was arrested on the base of reasonable suspicion of the crime committal and was brought to the investigative division.

During preliminary investigation the clothes the mentioned man was wearing were confiscated, samples were taken, the latter’s wife was questioned as a witness.

Relevant assignments were given to Gegharkunik Department of the Police.

Forensic merchandising, construction technical, traces and explosion technical complex expertise was commissioned, forensic examination was commissioned for the taken samples and confiscated clothes.

Necessary actions are conducted to find out the reason of the case and other circumstances significant for the proceeding, to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
