As a Result of Land Degradation Caused by Company, Damage Amounting to 104 Million AMD Caused to State. Preliminary Investigation of Criminal Proceeding Completed

Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated regarding the damage of land caused by mining operations carried out under the direction of the company's former director during extraction conducted outside the authorized areas, was completed in General Department on Special Assignments of the RA Investigative Committee.
Pursuant to data obtained through preliminary investigation, as a result of mining operations, the topsoil removed during the extraction of minerals in areas outside the authorized boundaries was placed by the company on agricultural and forest-designated land plots, mixed together with overburden rock. As a result, agricultural land with an area of 9,989 square meters and forest land with an area of 5,534.41 square meters were subjected to degradation.
As a result, pecuniary damage in the amount of 104 million 117 thousand 648 AMD was caused to the state.
By the prosecutor’s decision, public criminal prosecution was initiated against G.Sh. according to the Part 1 of the Article 381 of RA Criminal Code.
The latter is currently serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penitentiary institution for the commission of another crime.
For the purpose of recovering the damage caused, ban was imposed to a number of real estate properties owned by G.Sh. with a total estimated market value of 95 million 646 thousand 725 AMD.
The criminal proceeding with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor.
