On June 20, 2023 a report was received from a citizen informing that on June 18, 2023 at 19:00 her 42 year-old sister left the house located in the village of Ptghni of Kotayk region and did not return.
 

Immediately operative-searching and operative-intelligence measures were taken but as a result the woman was not found.
 

A criminal proceeding was initiated in Abovyan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code and the conduction of the preliminary investigation was assigned to the investigative group. 42 year-old woman was found the victim.
 

During preliminary investigation a number of investigative and procedural actions, among them actions aimed at localization of 42 year-old woman’s mobile phone, as well as her car, were conducted.
 

It was found out that the victim’s phone of “iPhone 13 pro max” model was sold in Yerevan on June 20, 2023.
 

In the result of urgent investigative and procedural actions, as well as necessary measures taken together with the employees of the relevant subdivision of the Police the persons who had sold and bought the mentioned phone were found and brought to the investigative body.
 

During the interrogation they presented circumstances significant for the investigation. One of them – 18 year-old young man was arrested on the base of reasonable suspicion of crime committal.
 

Through investigation it was found out that 42 year-old woman had been killed on June 18 at about 21:00. On the day of the case the victim met her 18 year-old acquaintance in Parakar. They drove in a car owned by the woman then parked the car at the area called “Tsirananots”. With the intent to kill the woman out of mercenary motives to possess her phone of “iPhone 13 pro max” model and use her car, the young man held the woman’s neck with the right hand and putting the left hand on the back of her head performed a chokehold trick by pushing and pressing the woman’s neck illegally depriving her of life.
 

Then 18 year-old young man tied the victim’s hands, feet and mouth with an adhesive tape, took her to a left stone workshop located at the area adjoining the cemetery of Parakar community. He pushed the body and dropped into the canyon at the area, covered it with stones and taking the woman’s mobile phone left the area in the latter’s car. On June 20 he sold the 42 year-old woman’s phone of “iPhone 13 pro max” model through his friend, received 200.000 AMD for it and used the car for his needs. 
 

During preliminary investigation investigative actions were conducted at the scene with participation of the young man during which 42 year-old woman’s body was found.
 

Decisions were made to commission forensic medical, forensic genetic expertise of the body.
 

On the base of the obtained facts charge was pressed against 18 year-old young man according to the Point 10 of the Part 2 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code. A motion was submitted to court to choose detention as a pretrial measure against him.
 

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find out all circumstances of the case. Assignments were given to the relevant subdivision of the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.
