Crimes Committed against Minors. First Half of 2026

In the first half of 2026 1.041 criminal proceedings regarding crimes committed against minors were investigated in the RA Investigative Committee (compared to 1.011 in 2025), 567 of which had been transferred from 2025, while 474 proceedings were accepted for proceeding in 2026.
85 of 1.041 with respect to 93 individuals with the bill of indictment were referred to court (compared to 53 proceedings with respect to 51 individuals in 2025), 2 were completed with a final act and were referred to court (0 in 2025), 185 were terminated (compared to 316 in 2025), 167 of which on rehabilitative (269 in 2025), and 18 on non-rehabilitative base (47 in 2025), 37 were combined (41 in 2025), 11 proceedings were referred to another body (23 in 2025), 43 were registered as ones within which procedural and evidentiary actions were conducted (24 in 2025), 678 were transferred to the second half of 2026 (compared to 554 in 2025).
1 of 85 criminal proceedings referred to court was investigated on murder, 4 - on infliction of heavy damage to health, 1 - on inflicting damage of medium gravity to health, 1 - on kidnapping, 1 - on illegal deprivation of freedom, 16 - on physical impact, 32 - against sexual freedom, 1 - on inciting a minor to commit a crime or making him/her participate in it, 2 - on obstructing visitation between a parent or other close relative and a child, 1 - on failure to fulfill or improperly fulfill the duty of raising or caring for a child, 1 - on failure to comply with an emergency intervention order or a protective order, 24 - on other crimes.
20 of 93 defendants within the proceedings referred to court were family members of a minor victim, 4 - guardian/trustees, 3 - employees of educational or childcare institution, 66 - other individuals.
43 of 94 victims within the proceedings referred to court were up to 12, 13 - 13-14, 27 - 15-16, 11 - 17-18 years old.
