Murder in Yerevan, suspect arrested

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on murder of the resident of Yerevan Armen Surmenelyan born in 1960.
 

The man’s body with cut-pierced injuries on the left part of the chest was found on January 20, 2017 at 20:55 in one of the flats in Tumanyan Street, Yerevan.
 

On the same day a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code and urgent investigatory and procedural actions were conducted to reveal the crime.
 

Through investigation those who were in the flat at the moment of incident were identified, actual data were obtained on murder circumstances.
 

During the inspection of the site a knife was found from behind the vase located on the balcony of the flat, there were bloodlike traces on the knife. Besides, traces of shoe sole were taken from entrance door by an expert.
 

On January 21 the resident of the mentioned flat was arrested on suspicion of committing murder.
 

During preliminary investigation the victim and suspect’s clothes were confiscated.
 

Forensic medical, forensic biological, forensic trace examinations were commissioned.
 

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
