In the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeidng investigated in General Department for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the RA Investigative Committee, factual data were obtained on the allegation that on April 30, 2026, three foreign nationals, acting as a group and motivated by financial gain, for the purpose of distribution, illegally transported a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs across the state border of the RA, namely numerous polyethylene packets containing a total of 367.52 grams of “Heroin” type of narcotic drugs, by concealing them through ingestion and retention in their abdominal cavities.  

During the same period, two RA citizens assisted in the smuggling of narcotic drugs of the aforementioned type and quantity into the RA, having previously promised to acquire and distribute them in Armenia. In furtherance of this plan, they arranged for the foreign nationals to be met upon arrival, provided for payment of the money required to transport the narcotic drugs of particularly large quantities into the RA, arranged for the packets containing the narcotic drugs to be removed from the foreign nationals’ abdominal cavities and acquired the drugs for the purpose of distribution, stored them in the RA, and arranged for the foreign nationals to leave Armenia. En route, in the area of Yerevanyan Highway in the city of Yeghegnadzor, they were apprehended and taken to the investigative body.

By the supervising prosecutor’s decision, public criminal prosecution was initiated against the 3 foreign nationals according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 399, and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code, and against the 2 RA citizens - according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 46-399 and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code.

The criminal proceeding with respect to 5 individuals with the bill of indicmtent was referred to the supervising prosecutor.
