A press conference on “Illegal turnover of narcotic drugs and peculiarities of their sale through internet” was held at the RA Investigative Committee during which the Head of the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking, against Sexual Immunity of Juveniles and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee, first class councilor of justice Hovhannes Hambaryan presented the procedural directions of pretrial proceeding conducted at the area of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs giving details on peculiarities of their sale through internet, including various social networks and applications.

The speaker made a reference to the indices recorded during preliminary investigation of criminal cases initiated on illegal turnover of narcotic drugs as well as analyzed several issues of public importance.

According to Hovhannes Hambaryan, in the result of analyses it was found out that this type of crime is currently quite widespread and the current situation is also conditioned by manifestations of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs by using information technologies, great number of people involved in it and introducing constantly improving new methods and tools.  

Referring to the peculiarities of this type of crime H. Hambaryan stated that new ways of turnover of drugs have been developed over time due to which the drug addict can order and procure drug from home or any place without face-to-face meeting with the drug dealer. As a result, drugs appear in different places and groups of society – in educational facilities, public entertainment places, penitentiaries.

The head of the department also pentioned that considering the logic and peculiarities of criminal cases initiated on illegal turnover of narcotic drugs, by the instruction of the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee preliminary investigation of similar cases has been concentrated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Committee, the methodology of investigation of crimes committed in the mentioned way has been developed due to which several organized groups operating at the area of the Republic of Armenia have been disclosed. 

In his speech Hovhannes Hambaryan also emphasized the importance of proper prosecutorial control by the RA Prosecutor General’s Office as well as the collaborative work done by the RA National Security Service, RA Police, RA State Revenue Committee for which several representatives of the mentioned agencies have been awarded by the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee.

Within the framework of the press conference the Head of the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking, against Sexual Immunity of Juveniles and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee answered various questions given by the representatives of media.
