Resident of Tavush region arrested on suspicion of killing his father

A criminal case was initiated in Noyemberyan Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on murder of the resident of the village of Koghb, Tavush region, Artashes Abgaryan, born in 1955.
On August 4 at 06:40 a call was received from “Noyemberyan” medical center informing that on the base of the call medical personnel left for Artashes Abgaryan’s house where learning that the latter’s son had shot at his father with a firearm they were afraid to enter.
The investigatory-operative group together with an expert left for the site immediately.
According to initial data, on August 4, 2016 at about 06:30 on the open balcony of their house the resident of Tavush region shot at his father A. Abgaryan with a double-barreled hunting gun of “IZh-58” model registered in his name. A. Abgaryan died of bodily injuries he had sustained.
A criminal case was initiated in Noyemberyan Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.
On suspicion of A. Abgaryan’s murder the latter’s son was arrested on the same day.
Through inspection of the site conducted in the framework of the criminal case the double-barreled hunting gun of “IZh-58” model which was the crime tool, a capsule and a bullet of 16 mm were found and confiscated. The clothes the victim was wearing were also confiscated. Forensic medical, forensic ballistic and toxic-chemical examinations were commissioned to find a number of circumstances significant for the criminal case.
During preliminary investigation it was found that the victim’s son with diagnoses of “reactive depression” had been registered in Noyemberyan’s medical center since December 24, 2015.
Preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
