In the result of investigative and procedural actions conducted within the framework of the criminal proceeding investigated in Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee murder of 54 year-old resident of Gyumri was disclosed.

On May 5, 2023 a report was received in Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee from Mush Division of the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs informing that on the same day at about 09:00 near the house on Isahakyan Street of Gyumri a body was found. 

The operative group, which had immediately left for the scene, found 54 year-old man’s body in the puddle next to the mentioned house.

Through inspection of the body conducted within the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code injuries and scratches were found on different parts of the body.

In the result of taken measures it was found out that the person had died not as a result of falling into the puddle but as a result of murder. The persons having committed the alleged crime were identified as well; they are residents of the same town, born in 1978 and 1977. They were arrested on the base of reasonable suspicion of crime committal and gave self-incriminating testimony.

Pursuant to data obtained during preliminary investigation, on May 4, 2023 at about 09:30 54 year-old man visited 45 year-old townsman’s house located in Gogol Street of Gyumri where together with the latter and another 46 year-old resident of the town used alcohol. A row on domestic matters erupted between them during which 45 year-old man willfully punched 54 year-old man on the face and 46 year-old man intervened not allowing him to continue his actions. After a short while the argument went on during which 45 year-old man once more willfully punched 54 year-old man on the face, pushed him to the floor then hitting him on different parts of his body with a foot illegally deprived him of life.

After it 45 and 46 year-old men, leaving 54 year-old man in the mentioned house, left locking the door. Returning on May 5 at about 04:00 they took the body and threw it to the puddle located next to the house on Isahakyan Street.

On the base of the obtained sufficient facts public criminal prosecution was initiated against 45 year-old man according to the Part 1 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code (murder), against 46 year-old man – according to the Part 1 of the Article 474 of RA Criminal Code (supporting the person having committed the crime). A motion was submitted to court by the investigative body to choose detention as a pretrial measure against 45 year-old man.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
