Preliminary Investigation of Criminal Proceeding on Subjecting Spouses to Trafficking Completed

Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding on subjecting spouses to trafficking was completed in the Department for Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking, against Sexual Immunity of Juveniles and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee.
In the course of preliminary investigation apparent factual data were obtained on the allegation that the cattle breeder of one of the farms in Kotayk region did not pay the spouses, who worked for him, for the work they had done, used violence against them, as a result of which one of the spouses fled under threats.
The cattle breeder continued exploiting one of the spouses, who was in a helpless state, partially aware of and in control of the nature and significance of his actions due to his mental state, and who did not fully understand and realize that he was being trafficked. Particularly, besides the works of the farm, the cattle breeder forced one of the spouses to do extra work, which was accompanied by regular use of violence or threats of violence against the latter.
For the work done during about 4 months one of the spouses was paid 5000 AMD.
In the course of preliminary investigation it was found out that the cattle breeder had used blunt instruments to commit violence against one of the spouses, causing bodily injuries. As a result, the latter fled.
Public criminal prosecution was initiated against the cattle breeder according to the Part 1 of the Article 188 and the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 189 of RA Criminal Code.
The criminal proceeding with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor.
