Work Carried out by “Expert Forensic Center of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia” SNPO in 2025 Summed up
On March 16, 2026 Artur Poghosyan, the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee visited the “Expert Forensic Center of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia” SNPO.
Summing up the work carried out in the previous year, Vigen Mesropyan, the Director of the SNPO, presented statistical data on the expertise conducted, conclusions received, staffing, and implementation of the instructions of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee.
Particularly, in 2025 10․148 decisions on commissioning expertise were received in “Expert Forensic Center of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia” SNPO (8.226 decisions in 2024), and 9․841 conclusions were issued by the experts (6․021 conclusions in 2024). Thus, the productivity increased by 63,4 %.
8․757 of 9․841 completed expertise were commissioned by the RA Investigative Committee, 1․070 – by the RA Police, 12 - by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, and 2 – by the court.
The SNPO director noted that as a result of proper organization and planning of the work during the reporting period, about 60 million AMD was saved from the funds intended for the procurement of expert services by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
Besides, in order to increase the efficiency of the preliminary investigation, at another instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, instead of conducting forensic expertise of certain types of weapons and cold weapons, souvenir banknotes, driver’s licenses and vehicle registration certificates issued in foreign countries, inspections are carried out with the participation of an expert. Also, appropriate inquiries are sent to the competent bodies of foreign countries, which make it possible to avoid unjustified overburdening of experts and unnecessary material expenses.
The Director also addressed personnel policy, noting that the SNPO has been staffed with about 87 experts who have completed the relevant qualifications.
Vigen Mesropyan noted with satisfaction that, according to the results of 2025, “Expert Forensic Center of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia” SNPO ranked 548th on the list of 1000 largest taxpayers.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee Artur Poghosyan expressed gratitude to the SNPO staff, noting that their work is visible and plays a significant role in resolving the course of criminal proceedings.
Artur Poghosyan emphasized that the productivity of the investigative body has increased also due to prompt conduct of the forensic expertise.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee also expressed his willingness to support the SNPO in any matter and to address any issues that may arise.
After the consultation, Artur Poghosyan got acquainted with the working conditions and talked with experts.
It should be recalled, that by the RA Government’s decision, the “Expert Forensic Center of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia” SNPO has been operating since August 1, 2024, consisting of 11 divisions, 7 of which are in the central body and 4 in the regions.
In addition to providing forensic services and around-the-clock criminalistic support, the organization maintains a unified collection of specimen documents circulating in the Republic of Armenia and carries out the registration of fingerprints, bullet cartridges, and DNA samples.
