Charge Pressed against Forester for Illegal Tree Felling; Preliminary Investigation Completed

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on illegal tree felling committed by the forester of the section 1 of Yeghegnut forestry was completed in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. Charge was pressed against the forester.

Pursuant to actual data obtained through investigation, from August 10 to September 4, 2019 the forester of the section 1 of Yeghegnut forestry of «Hayantar» SNCO, breaching the provisions envisaged by the Article 45 of the RA Forest Code, abusing official position, by using a gasoline-powered saw which belonged to him, cut down 75 hornbeams, cherry trees, lime trees and willows of 10 – 56 cm diameter in the mentioned section.

Pursuant to investigation data, a part of the wood was used for his personal needs and the rest was sold by him causing damage of 2.053.500 AMD.

On the base of the evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding charge was pressed against the forester according to the Part 3 of the Article 296 of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
