On September 1, 2023 starting from 07:50 the servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, out of motives of national, race, ethnic hate, intolerance and hostility, with the intent to illegally deprive of life, in a way dangerous for many people’s life, continuously fired shots from several types of weapons in the direction of several combat positions of the protection area of the unit N of the Ministry of Defense at the RA eastern border zone.

As a result, the servicemen of the same unit Andranik Arshak Antonyan, Arsen Alexander Mkrtichyan and Vachagan Saro Vardanyan died, there are also injured servicemen.

On the same day with regard to the case a criminal proceeding was initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1, 7 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 155 and the Points 1, 7 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155 of RA Criminal Code.

An investigative group was formed, necessary and urgent investigative and procedural actions are conducted to give final legal assessment to the criminal actions committed by the armed forces of Azerbaijan.
