The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Argishti Kyaramyan Presented the Circumstances of Ethnic Cleansing Committed by Azerbaijan to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe (photos)
The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Argishti Kyaramyan received today the delegation headed by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Dunja Mijatović.
The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee attached importance to the visit of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe expressing hope that it will contribute to provision of humanitarian issues and primary rights of thousands of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh as a result of ethnic cleansing, as much as possible, as well as to formation of a full and well-argued understanding of the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan.
Mrs. Mijatović told that the purpose of the mission was to comprehensively familiarize with the problems of the displaced persons and to pursue the protection of their rights.
During the meeting criminal-legal issues of subjecting more than 100 thousand people of Nagorno Karabakh to ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, protection of vital rights of Artsakh citizens were discussed.
Argishti Kyaramyan presented the factual data on planning to subject the population of Nagorno Karabakh to ethnic cleansing, within the framework of its implementation, making the further livelihood of ethnic Armenians in their cradle-homeland impossible, carrying out a large-scale military attack and forced displacement of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, the war crimes committed during all this, the capture of persons, the violence against ethnic Armenians, the dishonor of corpses, obtained within the framework of the large-scale investigation conducted currently in the RA Investigative Committee.
Argishti Kyaramyan drew attention on the fact that the whole population of Nagorno Karabakh, more than 100 thousand people, was displaced and in order to save their lives moved to Armenia in actually three days, leaving behind all their property and possessions, which is also an obvious manifestation of ethnic cleansing.
During the meeting the humanitarian consequences of the explosion in the fuel warehouse in Nagorno-Karabakh during the forced displacement, the search for missing persons as a result of this, the circumstance of impossibility of carrying out investigative actions were also addressed. Reference was made to the issues of missing persons during the 44 day war in 2020 and the period following it, as well as the issues of the persons under the control of Azerbaijan.
