    Work Carried out in 2024 in Yerevan Investigative Department and its Subordinate Units Summed up

    A meeting was held today at Yerevan Investigative Department under the chairmanship of Arthur Poghosyan, Chairman of the Investigative Committee. The meeting was dedicated to discussing the work carried out by Yerevan Investigative Department and its subordinate investigative units in 2024.

    During the meeting, the main report was delivered by Rafayel Vardanyan, the head of Yerevan Investigative Department. Besides, reports were also presented by Artur Nahapetyan, Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Kamo Sharoyan, the head of General Department for Control over Activity of Territorial Investigative Departments, and Kamo Sahakyan, the head of General Department on Special Assignments.

    Rafayel Vardanyan presented the work carried out by Yerevan Investigative Department and its subordinate units in 2024, as well as summery information on the process of criminal proceedings.

    Particularly, in 2024 102.602 criminal proceedings were investigated by Yerevan Investigative Department and its subordinate units, 74.005 of which were passed from 2023, and 28.597 proceedings were received in 2024.

    Through studies it was found out that during the reported period in the mass of the Investigative Committee’s 90.039 proceedings in total, the proceedings of Yerevan Investigative Department and its subordinate units made 41.9 percent.

    Compared to 32,530 criminal proceedings last year, during the reporting period, an increase in proceedings was recorded in  Yerevan Investigative Department and subordinate units, by 5,286 proceedings or 16.2 percent.

    In 2024 30.653 reports were received in Yerevan Investigative Department and its subordinate units. Within 24.042 of them a criminal proceeding was initiated, within 6611 a criminal proceeding was not initiated, whereas out of 27.614 reports received in 2023, 22.263 proceedings were initiated, namely 1,779 more proceedings were initiated.  

    Along with the growth in overall proceedings, the average workload of investigators also increased. A decrease was recorded in only 5 subdivisions. The greatest increase was recorded in the Second Investigative Division of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts.

    Within criminal proceedings, preliminary investigation of which had been completed in 2024 by Yerevan Investigative Department and its subordinate units, pecuniary damage of 3 billion 893 million 722 thousand AMD in total was caused, 840 million 582 thousand AMD or 21.5 percent of which was restored.

    During the meeting assignments were given by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee to activate the preliminary investigation and resolve the course of criminal proceedings that have been under investigation for a long time. Clear deadlines were set for them. Besides, the issues, ommissions recorded in specific subdivisions were raised and further directions for resolving them were outlined.  

    Arthur Poghosyan also noted the necessity of personnel changes based on the results of the meeting.
