Spouses through Threats of Violence Forced Person to Vote for “Mer Dzewov” Party’s Candidate in Regular Elections of National Assembly on June 7, 2026. Public Criminal Prosecution Initiated

 

Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on obstruction of free exercise of electoral rights through threats of violence by spouses, is under investigation in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. 

In the course of the preliminary investigation it was found out that on March 9, 2026 the employee of "Gazprom Armenia" CJSC V.K. and his wife V.D., arriving in A.H.’s apartment, with prior and unified intent to obstruct the latter’s right to electoral vote, during the conversation arisen on the stairs of the house, complementing each other’s actions, threatening to use violence against A.H. and spoiling property, forced him to go with his passport to the office of “Mer Dzevov” party in Tashir community, to register as a member of the mentioned party, and to vote for their candidate in the upcoming regular elections of the National Assembly, scheduled for June 7, 2026. Otherwise, they threatened to blow up his apartment in a way that it would appear as an accident. 

Public criminal prosecution was initiated against V.K. and V.D. according to the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 210 of RA Criminal Code. 

Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against the husband, absence ban, bail and administrative control was applied as a pretrial measure against the wife. 

Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding is ongoing. 

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
