In the result of investigatory actions conducted within the criminal case investigated in the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of trafficking against two or more persons committed by spouses were found out; charge was pressed against them.

On May 15, 2019 a resident of Yerevan submitted a report in General Department of Fight against Organized Crimes of the RA Police informing that in 2018 spouses offered him to sell napkins in Abovyan Street of Yerevan after which using violence or threat thereof they took the whole money earned in that way and forced him to do the same work until May, 2019.  

A criminal case was initiated according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 132 of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which is conducted in the RA IC Department of Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases.

In the result of investigatory actions and operative-intelligence measures of great volume taken together with the employees of General Department of Fight against Organized Crimes of the RA Police circumstances of cases were found out, the persons having committed the alleged crime were identified.

Through preliminary investigation it was particularly found out that the spouses, born in 1976 and 1970, by using vulnerability of three residents of Yerevan, including two beggars, as well as using violence against them not dangerous for health and threats thereof committed trafficking against them. They involved them in forced labor, organized retail trade of napkins and begging by them and took the money «earned» in this way.  

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against 43 year-old man and 49 year-old woman according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 132 of RA Criminal Code for trafficking against two or more persons by using their vulnerability, as well as using violence against them not dangerous for health. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against them.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
