October 27, 2026
As a result of large-scale investigative and evidentiary actions conducted within the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, it was found out and grounded that N.M., serving as a caregiver at the “Zatik” Child Support Center SNCO under the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, on August 9, 2026 subjected a minor resident, born in 2012, who was dependent on her and received 24-hour care services at the same institution, to physical violence.
Particularly, noticing the minor in the hallway instead of being in the bedroom at the bedtime specified in the daily schedule, N.M. pushed the latter into the group room, where, in the presence of other children and staff, she repeatedly struck him on the head and various parts of the body with hands and feet over an extended period. As a result, severe physical pain and severe mental suffering was caused to the minor.
In the course of the preliminary investigation, by the supervising prosecutor’s decision, public criminal prosecution was initiated against N.M. according to the Points 3 and 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 196 of RA Criminal Code.
Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against the latter which then was replaced by home detention.
The criminal proceeding with the bill of indictment was referred to the supervising prosecutor for approval and referral to court.
