In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the proceeding of the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee investigatory actions of great volume are taken to find all circumstances of taking hostage using violence dangerous for life or health by using a weapon.

Taking the public interest into consideration we inform that the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is Armenian by nationality, Gor Hakobyan, born in 1986, his relation to the injured party was also found. The owner of the game hall, witnesses were questioned, the videos captured at the site were inspected.

Pursuant to initial data, the 31 year-old man lived in the USA in recent years where he had been sentenced to a long-term imprisonment for committing heavy crime. He arrived in Armenia 4 months ago being expelled from the USA. He got acquainted with the injured in Armenia about two months ago.

Through investigation data were obtained on the allegation that G. Hakobyan entered the area of not operating billiard hall called “Weekend” with a 24 year-old woman in the night of August 29 at about 04:00. On August 29 at about 15:30 he broke the windows of the game hall, damaged the property in order to attract attention.

Numerous citizens gathered at the game hall, employees of law enforcement bodies arrived at the site and in their presence the man, pointing the knife to the young woman’s throat, using violence dangerous for life, demanded 5 citizens and an advocate to enter the hall otherwise threatening to kill the woman.

The negotiations to release the hostage did not yield any result, the man refused to obey the legal requirements of the employees of law enforcement bodies. In order to prevent the real danger threatening to the woman’s life a special action was carried out by the special forces of General Department of Fight against Organized Crime of the RA Police during which he sustained a firearm injury and was taken to medical center where G. Hakobyan’s biological death was recorded.

The doctors recorded cut-pierced wounds on the neck of the injured woman who had been taken to hospital, as well as lacerated wounds on the left eyebrow, bruises on different parts of her body.

Through inspection of the site bunches of long black hair, women’s clothes were found at different parts of the game hall.

Driving license by Gor Hakobyan’s name, technical book of the car registered by his name, the key of the mentioned car, money, as well as 2 mobile phones of “iPhone” trademark was found and confiscated.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 2 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 218 of RA Criminal Code. An investigatory group has been formed, active investigatory actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of all circumstances of the case. Forensic medical, forensic biological, toxicochemical and merchandising examinations were commissioned.   

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
