In the framework of the criminal case initiated in Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on murder committed on January 6 in “Musa Ler” hotel complex a decision was made today to involve 31 year-old A. Babayan as a defendant according to 4 articles of RA Criminal Code.

In the result of measures taken in the framework of preliminary investigation it was found that on January 6, 2016 at about 00:20 in “Musa Ler” hotel complex operating at the area of the village of Musaler of Armavir region several young men roughly violated public order, scolded the employees of the hotel-restaurant, used violence against the employees Vanush Khachatryan and Smbat Khlghatyan, as well as the residents of the village of Taronik Aram Karapetyan and Armen Khlghatyan who had been called to the hotel complex by Smbat Khlghatyan.

According to preliminary investigation data during the row one of the participants – 31 year-old A. Babayan indignant with Smbat Khlghatyan’s remark on proper behavior, in order to emphasize the “advantages” of his own self fired towards A. Karapetyan and A. Khlghatyan with a firearm which was with him. While escaping he directed the firearm towards S. Khlghatyan, as well and attempted to shoot, however he could not accomplish the crime under unforeseen circumstances, as the gun failed.

Aram Karapetyan died of firearm injury he had sustained, Armen Khlghatyan with firearm injuries was taken to university hospital N 1 of Yerevan.

On the base of the obtained evidence senior investigator of particularly important cases of Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee made a decision to involve A. Babayan as a defendant according to the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 258, Point 10 of the Part 2 of the Article 104, Points 1 and 10 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 and Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code.

On the same day a motion was submitted to the court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him.

The appropriate subdivisions of the Police were tasked to take necessary measures to find A. Babayan and other participants of the incident.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
