On 11 August, 2021 at 09:20 33 year-old resident of Yerevan turned himself in Shengavit Police Division and informed that at the entrance of the house he had stabbed his former wife. On the same day at 09:25 another call was received informing that there was a woman lying at the entrance of a house in Artashisyan Street.

The investigative-operative group immediately left for the scene and on the stairs at the entrance of the mentioned house found a woman’s body with numerous cut-pierced injuries on the left part of the chest, left shoulder, throat, the lower lip and the mouth cavity. In the result of urgent measures it was found out that the woman mentioned in the man’s statement and found at the entrance was the same person – a resident of Yerevan, born in 1987.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.

In the result of investigative actions and operative-intelligence measures a number of circumstances of receiving bodily injuries incompatible with life by the woman were found out.

Pursuant to initial data, on the day of the incident at about 08:30 33 year-old man having committed the alleged crime for the purpose of murdering his former wife because of problems on domestic matters they had had, taking a knife with him went to her residence, waited at the entrance of the house. When the woman went out of the house he stabbed her on different parts of her body. The latter, without regaining consciousness, died of bodily injuries she had received.

During preliminary investigation urgent investigative and other procedural actions were conducted, among them inspection of the scene during which blood-like traces were found, samples were taken, through the man’s personal search a kitchen knife with blood-like traces was found. Forensic medical examination of the body, forensic trace, forensic biological examinations were commissioned, a number of persons were questioned.

33 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering the former wife, he was questioned and gave self-incriminating testimony.

Measures are taken to find out all circumstances, to provide the comprehensive, objective investigation of the case, to verify the circumstances mentioned in testimonies.
