A criminal case initiated on death of a woman
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on death of a woman who had just given birth.
Mary Margaryan, who had been taken to “Erebuni” medical center with “HELLP” syndrome bilateral pneumonia” on July 27, 2015 after caesarean section, died 2 days later.
During preparation of materials it was found that M. Margaryan had had high temperature for 4 days, however the doctor of “Shengavit” medical center implementing medical assistance and service Sh. Bakhshyan was to hospitalize the woman, but she refused and did not implement her duties. In the result of careless treatment M. Margaryan died on July 29, 2015 and her newborn daughter died on the next day.
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA investigative Committee according to the Part 2 of the Article 130 of RA Criminal Code (Failure to implement or improper implementation of professional duties by medical and support personnel which negligently caused the patient’s death).
Forensic medical examination was appointed to find the causes of the woman’s death.
By the instruction of the Chairman of RA Investigative Committee A. Hovsepyan, preliminary investigation is ongoing in Yerevan Investigative Department.
Necessary investigatory measures are taken to provide the comprehensive and complete examination of the case.
