A criminal case was initiated in Akhuryan Investigative Division of Shirak Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on murder of a newly born child by the mother.
 

On March 23, 2015 a call was received from the head of one of the communities of Shirak region informing that one of the residents had given birth at home on the same day whose child was dead.
 

Materials on the case were prepared in Akhuryan Investigative Division of Shirak Regional Investigative Department in the result of which a criminal case was initiated according to the Article 106 (murder of a newly born child by the mother).
 

In the framework of the investigation an inspection of the scene was carried out, necessary investigative and procedural measures were taken to find the circumstances of the child’s death, as well as to provide the comprehensive examination of the circumstances of the case.
 

The child’s mother was interrogated as a suspect. As a result she told that on the morning of March 23, 2015 she gave birth to a baby boy at home then she strangled him because of poor social conditions.
 

Signature not to leave was used as a pretrial measure against the suspect (the woman is married and has three minor children).
 

Forensic examinations were appointed.
 

Preliminary investigation is under way.
