A criminal case was initiated in General Military Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on the attempt to swindle money under the pretext of taking bribe by cheating.
 

On June 15, 2015 a report was received in the Second Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee from the platoon commander of a military unit informing that in May, 2015 the former investigator A. Sarukhanyan, introducing himself as a prosecutor implementing supervision over the criminal case, called him and demanded from him money in significant amount for exemption from criminal liability and suspension of  criminal prosecution.
 

On 15.06.2015 a criminal case was initiated in the Second Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 5 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-178 of RA Criminal Code (attempt to swindle money by cheating under the pretext of taking bribe).
 

In the result of the operative-investigatory measures it was found that in the framework of the criminal case in his proceeding the former investigator A. Sarukhanyan demanded 300.000 AMD from the platoon commander in order to create favorable conditions in the case. After being dismissed from work, introducing himself as an official of prosecution office, he demanded 500.000 AMD from the same person by cheating under the pretext of taking bribe. However he could not complete the crime under the unprecedented circumstances.
 

On June 17 A. Sarukhanyan was arrested on suspicion of committing a crime envisaged by the Point 5 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-178 of RA Criminal Code. According to investigative subordination the General Military Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee sent the case to the Special Investigatory Service to continue the preliminary investigation.
