Banditry against Currency Exchange Center Disclosed; Charge Pressed against 32 Year-Old Man
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on banditry committed against currency exchange center. In the result of urgent investigatory actions the person having committed the alleged crime was identified.
On January 4, 2020 a call was received from a security officer of a trade center operating in Yerevan informing that on the same day at about 20:20 banditry was committed against an employee of currency exchange center located in the trade center.
The investigatory-operative group immediately left for the scene. Urgent investigatory actions were conducted to find out all circumstances of the case.
Pursuant to initial data, with the purpose of swindling somebody else’s property through banditry against currency exchange center the person having committed the allege crime broke into the area of currency exchange center, attacked one of the employees of the currency exchange center and waving the knife demanded that he should give him the money available in the exchange center. However, facing the resistance of the mentioned employee as well as his partner who had come to help, he could not complete the crime and escaped.
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 3 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code.
During preliminary investigation a number of investigatory actions, including inspection of the scene were conducted during which the knife which was the crime tool, blood-like traces were found, samples were taken, videos captured by cameras available at the scene were confiscated and examined.
Forensic medical, forensic biological and forensic criminological examinations were commissioned to find out circumstances significant for the criminal case.
In the result of investigatory actions and operative-intelligence measures the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1987. The latter was found and arrested on suspicion of committing banditry against the currency exchange center.
Charge was pressed against 32 year-old man according to the Points 3 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code.
The investigator submitted a motion to court to choose detention as a pretrial measure against him which was sufficed.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of circumstances of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
