In the result of measures taken by the employees of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee and the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs another case of smuggling narcotic drugs in particularly large amount by a group was disclosed.

On March 15, 2024 42 year-old woman and 27 year-old young man were arrested from Kajaran-Kapan road of Syunik region, on suspicion of illegal import, keeping and sale of narcotic drugs.

Through the search conducted in the car driven by the latter narcotic drug of «Methamphetamine» type weighing 3288 grams in total, masses similar to narcotic drug of «Heroine» type weighing 2459 grams and «Marijuana» type weighing 7505 grams, were found.

Through preliminary investigation it was found out that the arrested woman and young man, with prior agreement with another identified person, other persons not identified yet, illegally procured the masses similar to narcotic drugs of «Methamphetamine», «Heroine» and «Marijuana» type smuggled by an unidentified person from Iran to Armenia on March 15 then placed them at a hiding place in the village near the RA and IRI border. Through preliminary expertise conducted against a part of the masses it was confirmed that it was narcotic drug.

Then 42 year-old woman and 27 year-old young man placed the illegally procured drugs in the car hired by them, drove in the direction of Yerevan in order to divide them into several portions and sell in the RA, however they were arrested on the way.

Public criminal prosecution was initiated against the woman and the above-mentioned two men according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 46-399 and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code. The woman and the young man were detained, search was declared against the third identified person.

On April 17, 2024 the latter was found and brought to the investigative body. Charge was pressed against him and a motion was submitted to court to reconfirm detention as a pretrial measure selected against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Investigative actions are conducted, operative-intelligence measures are taken to find out all circumstances of the case, to find all the members of the criminal group engaged in smuggling drugs.
