Within the criminal case investigated in the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee charge was pressed against the young man, born in 1996, for sexual intercourse with a girl under 16, forcing a person to violent sexual acts.

On May 3, 2019 a minor resident of Yerevan in her parent’s presence submitted a report to General Department of Fight against Organized Crime of the RA Police informing that an unknown user of social site “Classmates” forced her through blackmail to do sexual acts and to have sexual intercourse with him being aware that she was a juvenile.

A criminal case was initiated according to the Part 2 of the Article 140 of RA Criminal Code which was sent to the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases. Preliminary investigation of the criminal case was tasked to the investigatory group.

In the result of investigatory actions and operative-intelligence measures taken together with the employees of General Department of Fight against Organized Crime of the RA Police circumstances of the case were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a young man, born in 1996.

Through investigation it was particularly found out that the young man registered two pages with hidden names in social site “Classmates” and through the mentioned pages got acquainted with a juvenile girl and had correspondence with her.

During communication he learnt that the girl was 14 years old. However he continued to communicate with her, he persuaded her and received her naked photos. After receiving the mentioned photos the young man sent messages to the girl, influenced on her psychic world, blackmailed and demanded to have sexual intercourse with him.

Besides, through investigation data were also obtained that the young man demanded that the girl should do other sexual acts, he recorded these acts and sent the video to her threatening to send it to her parents and relatives if she did not do his demands thus forcing her to have sexual intercourse with him and do sexual acts.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the young man according to the Part 2 of the Article 140 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

The RA Investigative Committee once again appeals to all parents to strictly follow the process of using internet by juveniles in order to protect them from similar or other dangers.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
