Charged with depriving person of freedom threatening to use dangerous violence
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on illegal deprivation of freedom by threat of using violence dangerous for life by using a knife against a person at Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University.
According to preliminary investigation data, on October 1, 2016 at about 13:30 at the entrance of Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University a man pointing a knife used as a weapon to a young girl’s neck deprived her from freedom for about 30 minutes. Using dangerous violence against the girl the man threatened and demanded to call the police officers. After the police officers had arrived at the site they together with citizens managed to neutralize him.
On October 1 a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district according to the Points 2 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 133 of RA Criminal Code, an investigatory group was formed.
On the same day a decision was made to find the girl an injured party. On October 1 the man was arrested as a suspect, on October 4 charge was pressed against him according to the Points 2 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 133 of RA Criminal Code. On the same day a motion was submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him. The motion was sufficed.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
