On June 26, 2024 at 20:15 43 year-old citizen of the Republic of India, who lives in Yerevan, submitted a report informing that two of his fellow countrymen had tied, beaten him, threatened to kill, scolded, committed sexual harassment and degrading acts against him, had taken a video of him in a naked state, sent the video to his relatives and claimed money, had stolen the money he had and kept him under lock and key.

With regard to the case a criminal proceeding was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 192, the Part 1 of the Article 194, the Points 1 and 10 of the Part 2 of the Article 258, the Points 3 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 252, the Points 4 and 5 of the Part 2 of the Article 196 of RA Criminal Code.

In the result of necessary investigative and evidentiary actions significant circumstances of the case, among them the motive, were found out, the persons having committed the alleged crime were identified; they are the fellow countrymen of the victim.

Through investigative actions it was grounded that 43 year-old man, temporarily living in the same residence with his two acquaintances – in a hostel located on Nar-Dos Street, Yerevan, on June 25, 2024 between 24:00 and 05:00 used alcohol together during which an argument about religious issue started among them.

In the meantime, due to the motives of intolerance, as well as illegal possession of the money of 43-year-old man, the latter’s acquaintances started hitting him with hands and a piece of a broken chair on different parts of his body, they took off his clothes and finding 500 USD, stole them. Then tying his hands and feet up, inflicted bodily injuries with a lighter and a stick causing strong physical pain and mental suffering.

Not limited to beating and humiliating the latter, in order to claim money from a relative, they deprived him of freedom for a long time, ignoring 43 year-old man’s requests to let him free, then they called the latter’s relative and claimed 500 USD in order to let him free.

On the base of the mentioned sufficient facts charge was pressed against the mentioned two persons according to the Points 5, 8 and 9 of the Part 2 of the Article 192, the Points 4, 5 and 9 of the Part 2 of the Article 196, the Points 3 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 252, the Points 1 and 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 258 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against them.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the materials of the criminal proceeding were sent to court.
