Criminal case initiated on Artur Sargsyan’s death; motion on involving international experts sufficed
A criminal case was initiated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA investigative Committee on Artur Sargsyan’s death in medical center.
On March 15, 2017 at 18:50 the resident of Yerevan Artur Sargsyan, born in 1968, was accepted in “Armenia” medical center with diagnosis of “inguinal hernia” and was operated on. Some hours later his clinical death was recorded in the same medical center with a diagnosis of cardiovascular insufficiency, multi organ failure and total lung edema.
Considering that in the materials there are crime elements envisaged by the Part 2 of the Article 130 of RA Criminal Code on causing death to the patient through negligence by alleged improper implementation of professional duties by medical and support personnel a criminal case was initiated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 2 of the Article 130 of RA Criminal Code.
By the instruction of the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee an investigatory group was formed, an investigatory plan was worked out. Arsen Sargsyan was found the victim’s successor.
In order to find the causes of Artur Sargsyan’s death, forensic medical examination was commissioned and the victim’s successor and his representatives will have an opportunity to take part in its conduction. The victim’s successor and his representatives submitted a motion to involve international experts, as well. The motion has been sufficed and the issue of involving the international experts referred by representatives of victim’s successor is currently considered.
Not only the history of Artur Sargsyan’s disease in “Armenia” medical center, but also medical documents on his health condition in “Nubarashen” penitentiary, in “Convicts’ hospital” penitentiary have been confiscated.
