Criminal case initiated on taking hostage using violence dangerous for life and health by using weapon
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on taking hostage using violence dangerous for life or health by using a weapon.
By the materials prepared on the base of the report of the police employee it was found that on August 29 at about 15:30 in not operating billiard hall “Weekend” located at 15/6, Rostovyan Street, Yerevan a man took hostage a resident of the 9th massive of Nor Norq, Yerevan, born in 1993, using a knife as a weapon, depriving her from physical freedom. Before that the windows of the game hall had been broken, the property damaged.
In the presence of numerous citizens gathered at the game hall, as well as employees of law enforcement bodies the man, pointing the knife to the young woman’s throat, using violence dangerous for life, demanded to invite 5 citizens and an advocate otherwise threatening to kill the hostage.
The negotiations to release the woman did not yield any result and the man refused to obey the legal requirements of the employees of law enforcement bodies. In order to prevent the real danger threatening to the woman’s life a special action was carried out by the special forces of General Department of Fight against Organized Crime of the RA Police during which he sustained a firearm injury incompatible with life.
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on taking hostage the young woman according to the Points 2 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 218 of RA Criminal Code. An investigatory group has been formed and investigatory actions of great volume are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of all circumstances of the case.
