Criminal Case Initiated on Using Violence against Police Officers at Campaign Headquarter
Investigation is conducted in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out the circumstances of the incident that took place at campaign headquarter of «Prosperous Armenia» party.
Particularly, on September 22, 2018 the senior inspector of Inquest Unit of Mashtots Division of Yerevan City Department of the RA Police submitted a report informing that on the same day at about 18:00 inspection of the scene was conducted by him at campaign headquarter of «Prosperous Armenia» party located at 188/5, Bashinjaghyan. The officers of Intelligence Unit of the same division also took part in it carrying out their service at the entrance door of the headquarter to prevent the citizens who were not involved in the activity from entering the mentioned area.
Pursuant to the report, at 19:10 when the police officers presented the inspection record to the participants to get acquainted, the person coordinating the work of the mentioned headquarter called the citizens who were at the headquarter doors to intrude the headquarter, break everything and seize the video recording device which had been taken through inspection of the scene.
Besides, provoking a scuffle the person coordinating the work of the headquarter damaged the entrance door shutter thus allowing 30-40 people standing outside to enter ignoring the police officers' legal demands to leave the building and not to hinder the activities. Then those involved in the incident used violence against the police officers pushing and pulling them which was combined with scolding and shouting.
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code.
Inspection of the scene was conducted.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing, measures are taken to find out all circumstances of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
