In the First Semester of 2024 338 Criminal Proceedings on Crimes Committed by Minors Investigated in the RA Investigative Committee

The RA Investigative Committee summed up the statistics of the criminal proceedings investigated on crimes committed by minors during the first semester of 2024.

According to it, within the specified period 338 criminal proceedings on crimes committed by minors were investigated in the proceeding of the Committee according to the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code.

29 of the mentioned criminal proceedings were completed with the bill of indictment and on 32 minors were sent to court, 94 were terminated 37 of which on rehabilitative, 57 – on non-rehabilitative base, 1 criminal proceeding was sent to another institution, 12 were combined, within 70 criminal proceedings procedural and evidentiary actions were completed, 132 were transferred to the second semester of 2024.

Particularly,

7 out of 29 proceedings sent to court were investigated on infliction of heavy damage to health,
2 –against sexual freedom,

3 – on banditry,

4 – on theft,

1 – on extortion,

1 – related to narcotic drugs,

11 – on other crimes.

A decision was made not to initiate criminal prosecution against 77 minors or to terminate criminal proceeding on non-rehabilitative bases.

Within the investigated proceedings 56 minors were arrested 46 of which were released from custody. A motion was submitted to court to apply detention as a pretrial measure against 10 minors, 5 of which were sufficed, 5 were partially sufficed. In two cases home detention was applied against the minor by the court.
