IRI Citizen, Charged with Illegal Turnover of Narcotic Drugs for the Purpose of Sale, Detained (photos)

On October 14, 2024 a report was received informing that on the same day at 14:15, while realizing operative data by the employees of Arabkir Police Station of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, an IRI citizen was arrested on reasonable suspicion of illegal keeping, selling of narcotic drugs and was taken to Arabkir Police Station from Griboyedov Park of Yerevan. Through his personal search a package with the content of plant mass, 2 transparent tapes, 1 zip package, 8 chains of small magnets, 19 packages with the content of brown plant mass and 20 packages with plant mass were found.

According to initial data, according to the citizen’s oral statement, the latter had procured the narcotic drug of “Marijuana” type, for the purpose of selling, from an unknown Telegram user.

Considering that there was a base to initiate a criminal proceeding, in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a criminal proceeding was initiated according to the Point 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 393 and the Part 3 of the Article 396 of RA Criminal Code, within the framework of which a decision on the mentioned person’s arrest was made.

Forensic material scientific and forensic biological complex expertise was commissioned.

Pursuant to preliminary conclusion received from “Expert Criminalistics Center of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia” SNCO, the mass, found at the arrested person and taken from the packages submitted for expertise, is narcotic drug of “Marijuana” type.

On the base of the obtained sufficient facts a decision was made to initiate a public criminal prosecution against the mentioned person and charge was pressed against him according to the Point 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code.

The investigative body submitted a motion to court to apply detention as a pretrial measure against him. It was sufficed.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find out the source of procurement of the narcotic drug, as well as to reveal the whole chain of illegal turnover of it.

Assignments were given to the relevant subdivision of the Police.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
