On July 20, 2023 an accident took place in the administrative building of General Department of Investigation of Smuggling and Economic Crimes of the RA Investigative Committee.
 

Particularly, operative information was received on receiving parcels containing drugs– demethoxyphenethylamine by 30 year-old man, Russian by nationality, RF citizen.
 

On July 14, 2023 two criminal proceedings were initiated in General Department of Investigation of Smuggling and Economic Crimes of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 399 which were combined in one proceeding.
 

On July 19 at 11:15 the person was actually taken to custody. On the same day he was presented to General Department of Investigation of Smuggling and Economic Crimes of the RA Investigative Committee and a decision on the mentioned person’s arrest on the base of reasonable suspicion of smuggling drugs was made by the investigator.
 

Within the criminal proceeding on July 20 the person was again brought to the General Department of Investigation of Smuggling and Economic Crimes of the RA Investigative Committee for interrogation, the latter’s lawyer also came, an appropriate interpreter was invited, as well. Under the conditions of video recording and with the participation of the lawyer and interpreter interrogation and necessary procedural actions related to it were conducted.
 

After those actions had been completed, the latter with handcuffs, accompanied by the officers of the inquest body, left the investigator’s room located on the fifth floor, walked all the way along the hall to the exit door leading to the elevator. As soon as the door opened, he immediately approached the open window next to the elevator and threw himself down from the window. As a result, he died.
 

Currently necessary urgent actions are conducted at the scene. All necessary measures are taken to find out all circumstances of the case.
