Members of Criminal Group Engaged in Smuggling of Narcotic Drugs in Particularly Large Amount Detained
In the result of the joint measures taken together with the employees of the RA National Security Service in the course of the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding investigated in the Department for Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking, against Sexual Immunity of Juveniles and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department for Investigation of particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee apparent factual data were obtained on the allegation that the criminal group had committed smuggling of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount, as well as illegally transported and kept narcotic drugs in particularly large amount for the purpose of sale.
Particularly, the members of the criminal group reached prior agreement with 2 IRI citizens on smuggling narcotic drugs in particularly large amount and illegally selling them at the RA territory. As a result, they procured packages containing narcotic drugs in particularly large amount; a total of 3.5 kg of “Marijuana” and 2.9 kg of “Methamphetamine”.
Then A.Kh., hiding the aforementioned packages of drugs from customs control and violating the ban on drug transportation, illegally transported them from the IRI to the RA territory, illegally kept the mentioned packages of drugs in a hiding place for mercenary reasons in order to sell them, after which he took photos of the locations of the drugs and sent them via WhatsApp, along with their geographical locations, to A.H., a member of the group operating from the territory of Iran, after which he immediately was arrested by the employees of the RA National Security Service.
Public criminal prosecution was initiated against M.R., P.V. and S.Z. according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 44-393, against A.Kh. according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the article 399 of RA Criminal Code, against E.J. according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code.
Detention was imposed as a pretrial measure to them.
The criminal proceeding with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor.
