Preliminary investigation on the fourth defendant in the criminal case initiated on murder combined with assault against IRI citizen, Armenian by nationality committed in Yerevan 22 years ago was completed in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
 

IRI citizen Hayk Abrahamyan’s murder was committed in January, 1995; his body with traces of violent death was found in one of the flats of 25/2 Komitas on January 28.
 

In the result of measures taken in the framework of the criminal case initiated on the incident circumstances, motive of murder, as well as the frame of those having committed the apparent crime were found, their actions were personalized.
 

Particularly, through investigation sufficient evidence were obtained on the allegation that Hayk Abrahamyan’s murder was committed out of mercenary motives by the victim’s acquaintances.  Hosted in H. Abrahamyan’s flat they gave him poisoned beer then strangled him and after murdering him they stole several items and escaped.
 

On the base of the obtained evidence 5 persons were involved as a defendant, 3 of them were charged with several articles of the RA former criminal code and the criminal cases were sent to court in 1995-1997. Search was declared against two more defendants – A. Petrosyan and G. Safaryan.
 

In the result of investigatory and operative-searching measures G. Safaryan wanted in the framework of the criminal case was found in the RF and on 23 December, 2016 was presented to the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. On the same day a decision was made to resume the suspended proceeding of the criminal case.
 

On the base of the sufficient evidence charge was pressed against G. Safaryan according to the Point 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against him.
 

The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.
 

The fifth defendant is still under persecution.
