In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the proceeding of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee significant circumstances of murder of 45 year-old resident of Vorotan Romik Ohanjanyan were found out. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the victim’s fellow villager, born in 1983, for murder.  

Romik Ohanjanyan sustained bodily injuries incompatible with life on April 1, 2018 on the abdomen. The latter was immediately taken to medical center but he died during the operation.

On the same day a criminal case was initiated in Goris Investigative Division of the RA IC Syunik Regional Investigative Department according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. Conduction of preliminary investigation of the criminal case was later tasked to RA IC General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases.

In the result of measures taken to disclose the murder it was found out that 45 year-old man had sustained bodily injuries incompatible with life with a knife during an argument that took place at the area called “Markosyan’s spring” of Vorotan community of Syunik region.

On the evening of April 1, 2018 the resident of Vorotan M. Hakobyan turned himself to Goris Police Division and told that he had stabbed the victim during the argument on personal matters and fled throwing the knife into the river Vorotan.

In the result of investigatory actions of great volume, operative-intelligence measures taken to verify the circumstances mentioned in M. Hakobyan’s testimony, to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation Hakobyan’s testimony that he had committed the murder was not grounded. Moreover, it was found out that M. Hakobyan had been inflicted bodily injury incompatible with life by M. Hakobyan’s brother-in-law.

Pursuant to preliminary investigation data, on April 1, 2018 at about 20:30 the residents of Vorotan met at the place called “Markosyan’s spring” where M. Hakobyan’s brother-in-law E. Markosyan demanded clarifications from R. Ohanjaynan for scolding his brother-in-law during the telephone conversation they had had earlier on the same day. During the argument the victim was caused the bodily injuries incompatible with life. Pursuant to numerous witnesses’ testimonies Ohanjanyan had been stabbed by E. Markosyan. The witnesses insisted on it during confrontation, as well.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against E. Markosyan according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
