In the result of investigatory actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case of Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee the motive of murder of Vardush Simonyan has been found, the person having committed the apparent crime has been identified. The suspect has been arrested.

V. Simonyan’s body with traces of violence was found in her house on October 21, 2015.

A criminal case was initiated in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code, an investigatory group was formed.

According to death certificate given by the forensic expert, the reason of V. Simonyan’s death was acute disorder of vital functions of brain caused by open, blunt craniocerebral injury. At the same time, the forensic expert recorded that close, blunt injuries were also found on the chest and backbone of the woman’s body.

In the result of numerous investigatory actions it was found that the woman had been murdered on October 20 out of mercenary motives.

Particularly, according to data obtained through investigation, V. Simonyan, while alive, was wearing golden rings which were sold after her murder to a person engaged in buying and selling gold. In the result of measures taken in the framework of the case the persons who had bought and sold the rings were identified, the latter was a 16 year-old young man.

According to data of preliminary investigation, on October 20 the 16 year-old man went to the old woman’s house and offered to do some agricultural work in her lot for some money. The woman refused saying that she did not need it.

Just at that time noticing the woman’s golden rings, the young man pulled the woman from her back and pushed her to the ground then he took the woman’s golden rings and escaped.

The 16 year-old man was arrested and interrogated, investigatory experimentation was conducted in his presence and he described the circumstances of the case.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
