Preliminary Investigation of Criminal Proceeding in Absentia Initiated on Suicide Committed by Conscript Completed

Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on suicide committed by mandatory conscript soldier was completed in General Department for Investigation of Crimes against the State, Fundamentals of the Constitutional Order and Public Security of the RA Investigative Committee.

On March 15, 2010 the body of V.M., a conscript from the military unit of Defense Army, was found in the back of the officer's room of the repair troop of the same military unit, hanging from an iron rod by a rope.

In the course of preliminary investigation apparent factual data were obtained on the allegation that on March 14, 2010, with the intent of oppressing V.M. and humiliating his honor and dignity, he was subjected to persecution by A.Kh. and N.G., conscripts of the same unit, for not returning the promised amount on time. As a result, on the same day V.M. committed a suicide by hanging.

On April 11, 2025 a decision was made to conduct proceedings in absentia against A.Kh., who was under search.

Public criminal prosecution was initiated against A.Kh. according to the Part 3 of the Article 359 of RA Criminal Code adopted on 18.04.2003.

The criminal proceeding on A.KH.’s part with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
