Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on August 11, 2023 in the Eighth Garrison Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on causing the mandatory-term serviceman of the unit of the RA Ministry of Defense to commit suicide was completed.

In the course of preliminary investigation apparent factual data were obtained on the allegation that the deputy commander of the rifle battalion of the unit of the RA Ministry of Defense learning that the examination of a smartphone used by mandatory-term serviceman, revealed a video involving him and two other servicemen, humiliated the serviceman’s honor and dignity showing cruel attitude to the latter in the presence of battalion personnel.

The mandatory-term serviceman being in a depressed state, on August 11, 2023 fired a shot in the mouth and nose area with a rifle attached to him and causing himself a fatal gunshot wound he died on the spot.

Public criminal prosecution was initiated against the deputy commander of the rifle battalion of the unit of the RA Ministry of Defense according to the Point 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 522 of RA Criminal Code.

Criminal proceeding with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor.
